While residents in Indore managed a comparatively protected journey through the first year of the pandemic spread, they have been severely affected by the second COVID wave now. Adding to the tallies of active patients, 1,789 fresh cases were recorded in the city on Thursday. With the continual rise in new cases, the progressive count of COVID-affected individuals stands at 1,09,029 currently and it is expected to breach the 1.1 lakh mark today.
More than 2,300 recoveries recorded in Indore on Thursday!
While the tallies of new detections have been significantly high in the city for two weeks now, the sustained count of high recoveries, points to a brighter side in the current times of flickering hope. 2,342 recoveries were recorded in Indore on Thursday, the highest since the start of the pandemic. Because of this, the weekly average count of recovered individuals shot up to 1,825 and it is anticipated that this graph would further take an upward trajectory.
On the grim side, 10 individuals in Indore succumbed to the deadly virus for the second day in a row. As of now. 1,133 lives have been lost to the highly contagious disease, the highest amongst all districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Vaccination rate fluctuates after the onslaught of the second COVID wave!
Due to the fear and chaos propelled by the second COVID wave, the number of daily inoculations has been adversely affected in Indore. While the city witnessed the immunisation of 1,21,540 individuals on April 4, the graph sloped downwards and the vaccination rate has been on the lower side since then. Notably, only 402 doses of the life-saving vaccine were administered on Thursday.
Drive-in testing centres to amplify COVID tests in the city!
With an objective to augment COVID testing in the city, two drive-in diagnostic centres at Nehru Stadium and Dushehra Maidan are conducting tests for Indore dwellers. An initiative of the Indore Municipal Corporation, these sites are offering the facility of RT-PCR tests at a cost of ₹600.
All individuals willing to undertake COVUD tests at these centres have to get themselves registered at the online portal in advance. After the test is conducted, the report will be made available through SMS or Whatsapp message. This scheme attempts to alleviate the burden on the current testing facilities in the city.
