Work on India’s first high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is advancing rapidly, with 343 km of viaduct and 434 km of pier work already completed out of the total 508 km alignment, according to the latest update from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
Key structural milestones include the completion of 17 river bridges, 5 pre-stressed concrete bridges, and 13 steel bridges. Over 5.6 lakh noise barriers have been installed along 280 km. In addition to track and bridge work, tunnel excavation has made significant progress, with 5 km of the 21-km underground section between Bandra Kurla Complex and Shilphata already completed using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method.
Station construction in Gujarat is well underway, while work on elevated stations and underground infrastructure in Maharashtra is also progressing. The project is steadily moving forward, bringing India closer to its first bullet train service.
