Former Indian all-rounder and 1983 world cup legend, Roger Binny, is all set to take over as the new BCCI president for the upcoming term. The position is currently held by former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. Reportedly, Binny and other candidates for five posts of BCCI office-bearers filed their nominations on this Tuesday and the formal elections will be held on October 18.

The 67-year-old former cricketer has a lot of experience in cricket administration as he has served in various positions of Karnataka State Cricket Administration (KSCA), and has been its president since 2019.

Reportedly, a formal meeting of state representatives was held on this Tuesday and the arrival of Binny almost confirmed the support of the representatives for his unopposed succession.

Furthermore, Binny will be the second player from the '83 world cup team to serve as BCCI president. Previously, Sunil Gavaskar also served as the interim captain of BCCI back in the year 2014.
