In an effort to cope with the ever-increasing traffic load on the existing bypass in Indore, preparations are underway build another one. The new Indore bypass will be an upgrade over the existing 32 km stretch that connects Manglia Bridge to Rau Chauraha.

The proposed bypass will be 139 km long, heading from Kshipra to the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) in Pithampura, within the Indore metropolitan region.

Authorities have already begun to lay the groundwork for the proposed bypass, with the PWD already accepting the initial satellite image marking for the new road. Furthermore, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has also given a nod to the theoretical aspects of the project to build a second bypass in Indore.

It is noteworthy that the decision to build another bypass in Indore stems from the recent increase in traffic load on the existing bypass. In fact, the traffic load on the bypass has now exceeded the 15,000 passenger car per unit limit, according to the regulations laid down by the NHAI.
