Under phase 1 of the inclusive ‘Accessible India Campaign,’ Goa Government has picked up pace in making at least 30 government building PwDs (Persons with Disabilities) friendly. In a review meeting conducted last month social welfare secretary announced to make ramps, signages and more at government and public fixtures.

According to the authorities, the state government has already begun working to make buildings accessible to persons with disabilities. Setting the timeline of June end for the Phase 1, the authorities are reportedly pacing up to complete PwD friendly signages, audio, tactiles, and other non-civil work within the decided timeline.
Phase 2 will see the completion of civil works such as ramps and accessible toilets for at least 45 government buildings and in some beaches such as Calangute, Colva and Baga.
Apart from this, the authorities have also urged all school managements in Goa to ensure that school buildings and higher education institutions are accessible for such people. Reportedly, the authorities are speeding up the good work to ensure that all government buildings are made accessible by April 2023.
