Cyclone Tauktae unleashes damage over COVID care centres in Goa
Amid speedy winds and heavy downpour, COVID facilities in Goa have been hit hard by the continuing effects of Cyclone Tauktae. Subsequently, a number of centres bore the brunt of grave weather conditions and the newly launched super-speciality block also got flooded. Further, the isolation centre functional at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium was one of the spots that witnessed damage and destruction by the spiralling circumstances.

Addressing the current problems, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant asserted that a cyclone of such high potential was never observed in the state. Consequently, the rain and wind have caused significant disturbances but necessary measures are being taken to fix the problems. Meanwhile, videos of excessive water accumulation are doing rounds over the internet. It is important for the concerned authorities to alleviate the situation soon, given the high count of patients admitted at the facility.
Electricity & water supply hampered across the state

Due to the cyclone, umpteen trees have been uprooted in the state while the electricity infrastructure has been severely damaged with 700 fallen poles and 200 broken transformers. As a direct consequence of this, the electricity and water supply have been stopped across many regions of the state. The Chief Minister said, "The Home Minister inquired about the widespread damage caused by the cyclone in the state and assured full support of all Central agencies to the State for returning to normalcy. We will provide all necessary assistance to Goans impacted by the cyclone."
While initiatives are being taken to remove the obstructions on national highways on priority the CM has also affirmed that electricity will be revived across rural areas by May 18.
Additionally, mobile network coverage has also been affected in the state. With regards to this, the CM said, "People in Goa have been facing mobile network issues due to disruption caused by Tauktae cyclone. Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) facility has now been activated across Goa. You can switch over to any network which is available in your area through the manual settings of your device."
