5 eateries in Jaipur that still remain a quintessential part of its history and legacy

This food trip should give you an insight into the wonderful colours of Rajasthani culture!

The Pink City is known for a lot of things, the most quintessential one being food. In the royal Pink City, every corner oozes a story, a mystery and a past behind it. In that light, it is only right that with history, food was passed on down as well.

Today, the city is home to some of the best and most revered dining places in India. These eateries have been around since ages and have perfected the art of making us fall in love with them through food. Here are 5 places that perfectly encapsulate the spirit of Jaipur's past and present, through food.

Pyaz Kachori at Rawat Mishthan Bhandar

When it comes to Pyaz Kachoris, no one does it quite like the Rajasthanis do. Rawat Mishthan Bhandar is a place that proves this. Just head over to the little store and taste the Kachoris these guys hand out.

Though a bit on the heavy side, Rawat's Pyaz Kachoris are worth each and every calorie that you gain. Even though Rawat's store is famous for Pyaz Kachoris, his sweets and other savoury dishes are just as mouth watering. Surely, something from here would make a delicious souvenir.

Lassi at Lassiwala

Often, we look to the Punjabis to give us a refreshing glass of Lassi, but most people don't know that the Rajasthanis have a taste for it too. Yes, folks, you read that right and if you want your mind blown away by Lassi, head to Lassiwala.

Minty, thick and milky, the lassis here are simply delectable. With an outstanding set of flavours, topped with a few dry fruits and served in a mitti kulhad, the taste of this lassi is perhaps unlike one you've had.

Snacks at Indian Coffee House

This is the place that tells a tale of the British era in Jaipur. Though the rest of the Pink City is all about Rajasthani Royalty, this is a place that has stuck around since the days of the British Raj and how.

It is now a major tourist spot, in addition to being a common hub for foodies. The Indian Coffee House has one of the most enjoyable filter coffees in Jaipur, along with some delicious cutlets, dosas and other snacky items.

Rajasthani Thali at Chokhi Dhani

Chokhi Dhani is the embodiment of Jaipur- it's culture, it's vibrance and naturally, its food. The place offers you not just the most authentic Jaipuri meal, but the whole experience as well.

You can treat your tastebuds to some classic Rajasthani thaalis. These have an assortment of dishes, all of which are like a fresh breath to the tastebuds. Pair that with the overall setting of the place, and you've got a place that allows you to experience all the colours of Rajasthan.

Paan at Prem Paan Bhandar

Perhaps you've had a long and tiring day. On that note, you should end it with a refreshing and flavourful paan from Prem Paan Bhandar. The man has been at it for a long time now. Needless to say, he is a master of the craft.

With more offerings than your average paan wala, Prem's little shop engulfs you in the fresh and rich aromas of the ingredients of your paan.

Knock Knock

These are just some of the places that beautifully capture the spirit of food in Jaipur. Though there are a lot more places that tell a story through cuisine, these are some of the old gems in the city that haven't gone out of style and always manage to woo us with what they offer us.
