Ahead of a mass inoculation drive kicking off on the 16th of January in the country, Rajasthan has identified 282 locations for the COVID-19 vaccination process, as per reports. While the capital of the state will house 13 such centres, 12 sites each in Ajmer, Bharatpur, Kota, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Alwar, Pali and Bhilwara have been pinned. Further, 7 sites each in the remaining districts have been pinpointed for the programme.

In line with the Centre’s orders, the state authorities have also chalked out interaction sites in Jaipur and Ajmer, which would be equipped with a two-way audio-video facility. In the Pink City, the interaction site will be established at the SMS Hospital and it would facilitate direct interaction between the state officials and the health ministry department, while monitoring the progress of vaccination on the first day.
According to a statement issued by the Health Minister of Rajasthan, around 4.5 lakh health workers will be vaccinated in the state in the first phase. Moreover, the minister has stated that the data of over 4,00,000 government and private sector health workers had been uploaded on COVIN (COVID-19 Vaccine Intelligence Network) software, on Saturday.
India grants ’emergency use’ authorisation to two vaccines
India recently granted ’emergency use’ authorisation to two vaccines- Oxford’s Covishield, manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII) and Covaxin, formulated by Bharat Biotech. As per reports, the SII’s Covishield vaccine will be transported from Pune on January 11 or 12.
Earlier in January, the health department officials of Rajasthan had conducted a trial of the COVID-19 vaccination process at 19 centres in 7 districts of the state, as per the Centre’s immunization protocol. Again late last week, the second mock drill of the vaccination was successfully conducted at 102 vaccination centres in all the districts of the state and it included 2,550 health workers. The final vaccination sites will have separate entry and exit points and while here, the recipients need to maintain physical distancing.
