Launched by the Minister for Education on September 29, 2015, The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country.
The ranking framework judges institutions under five broad generic groups of parameters from Teaching Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) to Perception (PR). Ranks are assigned based on the total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.
NIRF plays a significant role for students, as universities with higher NIRF ranking are better equipped to handle young minds.
