The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to prepare a health report card of the people living around the wellness centres run by Ayush Department in rural state regions as a push to its commitment of providing better health services to the people. The state has deployed several wellness centres across rural areas in Uttar Pradesh which are tasked to offer traditional medicinal facilities. This mission, in the backdrop of a worldwide pandemic, is a testimony of the state’s will to augment state-of-the-art facilities, boosting immunity and overall good health among its people.
State to monitor the fitness-status of residents
A government spokesperson has stated that Anganwadi workers and the Auxilliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) will conduct door to door survey programme to collect data about the health status of the residents. Consequently, this will work as the premise to develop the health report card by the Ayush Department. Besides, this health agency will also encourage and motivate people to adopt a healthier lifestyle by means of awareness programmes. These sessions will impart knowledge to the people on ways of preventing certain diseases with the help of Ayurveda.
Awareness campaigns to strengthen the state health infrastructure
Dr. Ashok of the Ayush department said, “Ayurvedic medicines have played an important role in preventing the corona infection even as the country’s oldest medicinal system has gained popularity during the pandemic. The Ayush department’s health card in the rural areas for the people living around wellness centres will help improve the health profile of a particular area.”
These centres will also tell people about the benefits of Yoga and its role and importance in preventing several diseases, by keeping the body active and fit. Several awareness programmes will also be launched where people will be educated about the various ways to prevent the growth and transmission of serious diseases, he added.
Villagers will also be pushed to plant medicinal plants and all houses in the village will also receive Tulsi and Aloe Vera. The Ayush Department will be involved in teaching people about home-made remedies using these, which are rich antibacterial agents, with plenty of anti-oxidants. “Medicinal plants are very useful in treating minor diseases and very helpful for the digestive system. They are also a good health supplement in daily life,” the spokesman said.
