The North-South corridor of Lucknow Metro which was officially launched on 8th March 2019, will be completing a year of its journey. Though the metro rail system started with a rickety start and faced a few hurdles initially, it has been sailing smoothly ever since. With a boost in the daily ridership, the construction of new stations, as well as a new corridor, Lucknow Metro has become a reliable means of transportation for the people of this city.
As a token of gratitude for the support given by the people of Lucknow to the metro-rail system over the year, Lucknow Metro is giving away free rides to the daily commuters, on its first birthday!

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation will be completing a year of its journey, with a daily ridership of almost 70,000 people. With book fairs, restaurants and a stunning architecture, the Lucknow Metro has slowly become a very happening means of transport for the residents.
Over the past year, Lucknow Metro has made the lives of residents quite easier, and as an expression of gratitude towards the people of Lucknow, the metro will be offering free rides tomorrow. There’s only one catch, the rides are be availed by only those who hold the Lucknow Metro GoSmart Card. Which, anyway is a popular thing, since the card saves Lucknowites from long queues making their ride smoother.
UPMRCL (Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation) broadcasted this offer on their Twitter as well as Facebook pages. So if you’ve been debating taking the metro to your friend’s place tomorrow, do it because now you can travel for free!

Lucknow Metro also shared that the metro network has crossed a ridership of 2.51 crore passengers on 5th of March, only a few days before the completion of its first year. “It’s a moment of immense pride for Lucknow Metro as it touches the glorious ridership of 2.51 crore on 05.03.2020.
