The Traffic Awareness Month (November) was inaugurated on Monday at the Reserve Police Lines by the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).
The event opened with a traffic awareness rally featuring racer mobile units, pink scooters, TRVs, and patrol vehicles. Students were also briefed on the 5E (Education, Enforcement, Engineering, Emergency Care, and Environment) model of road safety, educated about the ‘Golden Hour’ and the Good Samaritan Law.
Month-long activities announced
Officials stated that throughout November, traffic police will conduct public outreach activities in collaboration with voluntary groups. These include nukkad nataks, painting and essay competitions, and awareness programmes in schools and colleges. Traffic teams will also carry out field visits to educate commuters and enforce the Motor Vehicles Act. Repeat violators may face cancellation of driving licences and vehicle registration.
Moreover, to encourage public assistance in accident cases, officials shared updated details of the ‘Raahveer Yojana’. Citizens who help road accident victims will now receive a reward of ₹25,000, up from ₹5,000.
1,675 vehicles fined across the city
As part of Traffic Awareness Month, 1,675 vehicles were fined for various traffic violations during checks conducted at major junctions across Lucknow. The fines included:

815 for not wearing helmets

209 for no-parking violations

91 for faulty number plates

21 for driving without insurance

54 for wrong-side driving

200 for triple-riding on two-wheelers
In addition, 38 vehicles were seized and sent to their respective police stations.
