While innumerable difficulties have been ushered by the pandemic, the hampered availability and accessibility of emergency resources have led to a cumbersome situation across the country. Driven by the need of these hard times, students, teachers, and alumni of Jaipuriya Institute of Management in Lucknow have developed a platform to assure verified leads for troubled individuals. Led by Dr. Reena Agrawal, Chairperson of the Social Responsibility Committee at the institute, the group is working relentlessly to meet the requirements of COVID-affected people.
Aid grid acting as a link between demand and the available resources
Speaking to Knocksense, Dr. Reena Agarwal said, “I am being helped by 3 alumni from the insitute who are all working professionals employed at prestigious organisations. Ankur Bhatia, Shobit Tandon and Harsh Shekar from batches of 2011, 2014 and 2022 have aided in the development of this support network. With the help of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp group, we attempt to help people in need by providing them leads for oxygen cylinders, hospital admission, plasma donor, doctor consultation, ambulance and food.”
Further, the operations are bifurcated across three different WhatsApp groups called ‘Alumni Jeevan Dhara’, ‘Let’s Be Human’, and ‘Let’s save humanity.’ Aggregating doctors and NGO resource persons together, these groups help the members to act as links between the patient’s demand and the available supply.
With dedicated efforts deployed round the clock seven days a week, an extensive record of resources has been prepared which helps in the quick provision of hospital beds, oxygen, plasma, medicines and other things. Joined by many media professionals and volunteers, the group effectively guarantees quick and trustworthy leads.
Benefitting people from Mysore to Delhi & Jaipur to Vizag
As a part of their multifaceted programs, the group has helped in the immediate hospitalisation of more than 175 people while plasma leads have been provided to over 725 individuals. Additionally, more than 410 requests for medicines, injections, oxygen cylinder, cans, concentrators, RT PCR testing and other medical assistance have been met. Through their will and commitment, the group now has beneficiaries across Dehradun in the north to Mysore in the south and from Jaipur in the west to Vizag in the east.

They started out with a small number of people and now, they have evolved into a strong knit network that assures verified leads within a few minutes. Besides speaking volumes about the benefits of collective efforts, this must also encourage like-minded individuals to take up similar pursuits. If there is anything that can surely act as a social safeguard against the pandemic, it is the spirit of selfless service!
