Facilitating a smoother and economical customer experience, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is coming up with a mobile application that will help people book advance tickets at an extra charge of ₹8. At present, passengers have to pay around ₹20 to ₹30 extra while booking seats through the official website of Uttar Pradesh roadways. Reportedly, this service will be made available to the public from January 2022.

In an attempt to promote cashless transactions, UP’s transport corporation has ordered around 13,500 Electronic Ticketing Machines for its existing fleet of 12,500 buses. With the help of these hi-tech machines, passengers will be able to pay the fare through debit and credit cards while traveling. UPSRTC has partnered up with M/s Orion Pro Transit Solution Pvt Ltd- a Mumbai-based IT company to provide a smooth and transparent digital ticketing system for the next five years.
Furthering transparency in the system, these machines will be used to track the exact location of the buses along with the tickets and payment details of the commuters. Reportedly, to monitor these details, a command centre is being set up at the Uttar Pradesh Roadways Headquarters in Lucknow as well.
Service to start in Lucknow & Ghaziabad in 3 months

Reportedly, in the first phase, this service will be initiated in Lucknow and Ghaziabad within the next three months. Additionally, as per the Principal Manager of UPSRTC, passengers will soon be able to travel cashless in roadways buses of the state by booking seats through the upcoming application.
Purportedly, information regarding the cost of tickets, timetable and other facilities available at various bus stations will also be made accessible to the travellers through this application. As per the reports, under the ambit of the ‘One Nation One Card’ scheme of the union government, the facility of different transportation modes will also be available through the same card in the near future. Hence, the new UPSRTC mobile application is expected to bring in great convenience and ease for travellers by also reducing the booking price at the same time.
