IIT Kanpur's upcoming Centre for Drones to bolster the mission of 'Make in India'

At present, companies in India have to depend on America, Australia and European countries, to provide necessary equipment for drone manufacturing. However, IIT Kanpur is preparing to bolster technological advancements in the field of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology, thereby furthering the dream of 'Make in India'. A Centre for Drones shall soon be opened here and a proposal for the same has been sent to the Home Ministry for approval.

IIT Kanpur's SIIC inks MoU to train principals of ITIs on modern tech via workshops

IIT Kanpur's SIIC (Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh's Department of Training and Employment. As per this MoU, IIT Kanpur shall engage in the task of training principals of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state on new-age innovation technologies, through workshops. The main aim of this programme is to foster capacity building and to complement academic knowledge by tapping into the contemporary skillset.

The eighteenth edition of the QS World University Rankings has been released on Wednesday and 35 Indian institutes have made the list. This list includes the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, at 177th position and the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, at 277, among other universities. A global higher education analyst group, Quacquarelli Symonds, ranks universities of the world based on several factors, including academic reputation, citations per faculty and other factors.
