Ongoing technical upgrades at Sabarmati Railway Station have prompted the rerouting of several trains. Notably, the Sabarmati – Bhavnagar – Sabarmati intercity train, typically departing from Sabarmati, will now commence its journey from Gandhigram station for a duration of one month starting January 16.
Consequently, services for this train between Gandhigram and Sabarmati are temporarily canceled.
Weather update: Amdavadis experienced the coldest day of the season
Ahmedabad encountered a severe cold spell of the season on January 15, as chilly northerly winds brought the temperature down to 11.1 degrees Celsius. This marked the coldest day of the season, with the mercury expected to dip further to 11 degrees or below in the coming two days.
According to data from the weather department, Ahmedabad witnessed a maximum temperature of 29.2 degrees on Monday, which was 1.2 degrees higher than normal. Simultaneously, the minimum temperature was recorded at 11.1 degrees, 1.1 degrees lower than the normal range.
However, the Meteorological Department anticipates cooler nights, with the minimum temperature in Ahmedabad likely to hover around 11 degrees or lower in the next two days. This expectation suggests an increase in daytime warmth and cooler nights.

The forthcoming station for the country’s inaugural bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai promises a distinctive experience. The 508 km high-speed corridor will feature 12 themed stations, with each station aligning its theme with the unique characteristics of the city it represents.

In a compassionate initiative, an Ahmedabad-based organization has established a dedicated control room for treating birds injured during the Uttarayan (Kite) festival.
Post the Makar Sankranti festivities, which include the popular Kite festival, there is a surge in cases of injured birds. The ‘Jivadaya Charitable Trust’ from Ahmedabad extends medical assistance and care to these injured birds, with over 1000 cases reported in Ahmedabad alone.
