Aimed at improving travel experiences for families, the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Motohome Operator, is flagging off Caravan Tourism in the state. A form of leisure accommodations, this new form of travel exploration is expected to be the next big deal in the tourism industry.
These recreational vehicles replace the conventional hotel stays and offer the unique experience of vacation on wheels. A soaring trend in India, Caravan tourism has caught on to a number of states, with Karnataka, Kerala and Goa spearheading the bandwagon.
Equipped with cooking amenities and two washrooms, caravans to provide complete comfort
Solving any problems concerning lack of facilities around accommodations in various offbeat locations and specifically catering to family-oriented travel, a Motorhome Caravan can lodge 6-8 people. This includes sleeping arrangements for up to 6 people.
“The concept of Caravan tourism has gained immense popularity across the globe owing to the freedom and flexibility it provides, while holidaying vis-a-vis itineraries and accommodation. This would include vehicles viz. Recreational Vehicle(RV), Campervans, Motor Homes etc. Caravans are a unique tourism product, which promotes family oriented tours even in circuits / destinations which don’t have adequate hotel accommodation… One of the essential pre-requisites for Caravan tourism is the presence of sufficient Caravan Parks in the identified circuits. A Caravan Park is a place where Caravans can stay overnight in allotted spaces providing basic or advanced amenities and facilities,” read a guideline release by the Ministry of Tourism.
These caravans, equipped with cooking amenities and two washrooms, are all set to take the Uttar Pradesh tourism to the next level. Bookings can be made via UP Tourism State Development Corporation Limited. In a promotional offer, to celebrate the launch, one can book the caravan for ₹35,000. In this, the vehicle will be booked for a full day and cover up to 350 kms (with ₹150 for additional kms).
