Jaipur’s titular Prince Padmanabh Singh (24) is leading the Indian Polo Team at the ongoing XII FP World Cup Zonal Playoffs in South Africa. He is also one of the youngest Indian players to be chosen for the said tournament and is playing for the second time at the World Cup.
The zonal playoffs are being held at Inanda Polo Club in South Africa’s Johannesburg and will go on till September 12. The finals will be held at Palm Beach in Florida, USA, on November 6.
Regal public figure from Jaipur
A member of erstwhile royal family, Singh was informally crowned Maharaja (king) of Jaipur in 2011. A public figure in the Pink City, he is the brand ambassador of La Martina, an Argentinean leisure polo-centric company. An alumnus of Ajmer’s Mayo College and Millfield School in London, Singh is also an established Polo player.

The last time India won the Polo World Cup was in 1957, held in France. The then team had won under the able captainship of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur. With this, Singh is only the second player belonging to the Jaipur royal family to represent India in the World Cup.
