As work on Indore metro has picked up speed in recent months, administrative decisions regarding the passenger services are also being taken swiftly. In a slew of new Indore metro updates, we have learnt that passengers will be able to use the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) and the automatic fare collection will allow them to pay for their journey digitally or by punching in their debit/credit cards.
Coaches for Indore metro are being built in Vadodara
The under-construction Indore metro services will boast a fleet of 25 trains, featuring 3 coaches each. The said coaches are expected to be completed and delivered in May with the trial run for Indore metro scheduled to be held this September. Furthermore, the government has set itself the target of starting Indore metro services by March 2024.
What is the National Common Mobility Card?
Launched in March 2019, the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) can be used by travelers to pay for the fare for city buses, metro, toll booths, parking facilities and more. Once it is up and running, Indoris taking the metro trains will be able to swiftly pay for their journey with their NCMC card.
Indore metro work: Current progress
Work on Indore metro phase-1, which will connect Gandhi Nagar to Radisson Square, is already going on in full swing. Plans and blueprint for the second phase (connecting Robot Square to Palasia Square) are also being prepared. The work for Indore metro is being sped up as most of the construction is going on in busy parts of the city that see huge flow of traffic.
