Preethi Pal has made history as the first Indian woman to win two track and field medals at the Paralympics. She secured bronze in the 200m T35 category with a personal best of 30.01 seconds. At 23, Preethi joins Avani Lekhara as only the second Indian woman to achieve two Paralympic medals in one Games. Her achievements include India’s second para-athletics medal at the Paris Paralympics.

In a ceremony held in the national capital, President Droupadi Murmu revealed a new flag and insignia for the Supreme Court to mark its 75th anniversary.
Designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology, the new flag features the Ashok Chakra, the Supreme Court building, and a book representing the Constitution, symbolising justice and democracy.

Air India launches new Airbus A350-900 on Delhi-London route
Air India has introduced its latest Airbus A350-900 on its Delhi-London Heathrow route. This new service marks a key milestone in the airline’s transformation, featuring the ‘new Air India’ experience for long-haul flights. The A350-900, configured with 28 business class, 24 premium economy, and 264 economy seats, can accommodate 316 passengers and boasts a range of over 15,000 km.
Additionally, Air India Express has started a daily service with its Boeing 737-800 Max between Vijayawada and Bengaluru, enhancing connectivity with a flight duration of approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes each way.
Two new spider species discovered in the Western Ghats
The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) has announced the discovery of two new spider species in the Western Ghats. The Mimetus Spinatus was found in Karnataka’s Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, while the Mimetus Parvulus was identified in Kerala’s Ernakulam district.
The research team, led by Dr Souvik Sen of ZSI, along with Dr Sudhin P P and Dr Pradeep M Sankaran, made this significant find.
University of Southampton to open campus in Gurugram
The University of Southampton, a top-ranked global institution and member of the Russell Group, has received approval to open a branch campus in Gurugram, India. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
