Lucknow has noticed a slight change for the better, pertaining to the COVID-19 cases in the city with lesser number of confirmed cases now as compared to the month of September. Purportedly, around 500+ covid victims are being reported on a daily basis currently, which is a few notches less than the previous average of 850-900. As of today, Lucknow has 53,900 corona patients and 46,946 citizens have gone back home in good health.

Uttar Pradesh’s covid tally is at 4,06,995 as yet and the state has observed 5,917 deaths as well. Out of all the other cities in the state, Lucknow has been the worst-hit one with 53,900 corona patients at hand. The city has documented 718 fatalities, till now. Gomti Nagar and Indira Nagar are still labeled as hotspots with the highest number of patients living here, followed by Raebareli road, Jankipuram, Madiaon, Alambagh, Chinhat, Chowk, Gudumba, Hazratganj, amidst others.
Uttar Pradesh is now even being credited as the first Indian state to have conducted 1 crore coronavirus tests, in an effort to curb the spread of this contagious virus. Although the positive figures have now come down, in contrast to the earlier status, Lucknow still has a long way to go in terms of absolute recovery. The UP government has also announced that the phase-3 trial of the coronavirus vaccine ‘COVAXIN’, will start in Lucknow and Gorakhpur from this month onwards. If the trials pan out as planned, the authorities of ICMR believe that the vaccine can be made available in the market by the middle of the 2021.
