Goa has become the first state in India to introduce ‘Home Isolation Kits’, which would reach the doorsteps of the covid victims, equipped with items required for the recuperation process. This move will reduce excess pressure from the hospitals in the state. On Monday, a statement issued by the state Health Minister, mentioned that the Goa government would distribute 5,000 home isolation kits consisting of masks, medicines and other essential items, within a week.
Each family to be provided with one kit
The minister further added that each kit will be numbered to track its distribution and the concerned health officers will purvey prescriptions to the recipients of these kits. According to the Health Minister, SoPs will be chalked out for taking CT Scan and X-rays of home isolation patients. For the patients who are in a critical stage, have comorbidities or are from the elderly lot, CT Scan and X-ray will be carried out before the commencement of the treatment. Covid patients above the age of 50 and are in home isolation, would be surveilled thrice a day with special attention by senior doctors.
The 5000 kits which would be going out, will include vitamin tablets, hydroxychloroquine tablets, a digital thermometer, an oximeter, a spirometer, gloves, mask, a sanitizer and so on. The CM had previously mentioned that each family will be provided with one kit but if there is more than one patient, only the tablets would be made available.
As of today, Goa has 38,674 confirmed corona cases and 33,698 people have recovered till date. The state has also documented 511 fatalities. Within the last 24 hours, 308 corona positive patients have been reported and 495 have gone back home in good health.
