At present, the state of Goa has 37,591 confirmed COVID-19 cases and the Chief Minister on Friday, mentioned that next week onwards, the state government will get AYUSH doctors on board for covid care. Along with other government doctors, the AYUSH doctors will be involved in the treatment of COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms.
Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homeopathy- AYUSH
The doctors from this field will be included in post-COVID management of patients in the state. AYUSH is an acronym for five traditional systems of medicine- Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. The clinical authorities will chalk down dietary measures, yoga and ayurvedic herbs and formulations such as Ashwagandha, Guduchi Ghana Vati and AYUSH-64 for the treatment of covid victims, including the asymptomatic ones.
Goa also became the first state in India to introduce ‘Home Isolation Kits’, which would reach the homes of the covid infected people, equipped with provisions required for the recuperation process. This move will reduce excess pressure from the hospitals in the state. The kits would be distributed from the 10th of October, via the concerned PHCs and Community Health Centres (CHCs).
These kits include vitamin tablets, hydroxychloroquine tablets, a digital thermometer, an oximeter, a spirometer, gloves, mask, a sanitizer and so on. At present, around 3,500 patients have chosen to follow home isolation. The National Clinical Management Protocol based on Ayurveda and Yoga, was listed down by the Union Minister for Health. The CM further mentioned that each family will be provided with one kit but if there is more than one patient, only the tablets would be made available.
As yet, Goa has documented 489 recoveries within 24 hours and till date, 491 fatalities have been reported. 4,783 cases are active at the moment and 32,317 patients have recovered.
