With the vaccination of over 7,16,146 individuals on Monday, the highest-ever count of daily beneficiaries was registered in Uttar Pradesh. While the drives were targeted at inoculating 6 lakh people, the number of recipients exceeded the goal by a humongous margin of over 1 lakh. Next to this record, another milestone was achieved in April with nearly 5.5 lakh people vaccinated on a single day. As of now, 2,62,49,887 jabs of Covaxin and Covishield have been given to the residents across the state.
Nearly 12.5 lakh individuals fully vaccinated in the state!
Informing about this accomplishment, the Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said, “We plan to maintain this pace throughout the month.” Amid the 10 day period from June 21 to 30, the officials plan to immunise 6 to 7 lakh individuals daily, so that a figure of 1 crore can be logged for this month. Further, the objective will be amplified to 10 lakh daily recipients from July 1, aiming for a total of 10 crore vaccinated individuals by the end of August.
“The government has set up special booths for women, parents whose children are less than 12 years old and is also carrying out special vaccination drives in blocks,” said Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary (information). Amongst the 8,500 inoculation centres in the state, 89 are functional at private hospitals. Through extensive drives and schedules at these sites, 2,21,90,836 have been administered the first dose while 12,49,021 have been given both doses.
Lucknow records maximum doses given in the state so far!
With 12,49,021 doses administered so far, Lucknow stands ahead of all state districts in the vaccination program. On Monday, Ghaziabad and Gorakhpur witnessed maximum inoculations with 27,925 and 25,164 doses, respectively. As per records, Chitrakoot lags behind as the only district with less than 1 lakh beneficiaries and 2,660 people were immunised in the city on Monday. Additionally, slight improvements were seen in Auraiyya and Sambhal as well.
In the past, the state government had initiated plans for procuring vaccines from foreign nations but the proposals could not be materialised as the centre altered its policy. Currently, the central administration is helping the public and private facilities in the state with the free provision of jabs. While the government receives 75% of the stock, 25% are for the private centres.
