With the dwindling count of cases in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has reduced the night curfew timings from 11 PM to 6 AM. Earlier, the night curfew was operational on all days from 10 PM to 6 AM across Lucknow, Kanpur and all districts of the territory. Through the latest orders, the state administration has offered an additional relaxation of an hour. On Monday, one new infection was recorded in Lucknow while a total of 3 recoveries were marked.
Night Curfew in place, since last 5 months
Notably, the night curfew was announced for the first time on April 7, with the start of the second wave of the pandemic. Now, it has been 5 months since the night movements were restricted across the state. Given the marginal count of new infections witnessed in Uttar Pradesh through the past few weeks, the officials have released a string of relaxations and the current one has further eased the curbs.
As per records, 12 new cases and 15 recoveries were marked in the state on Monday. Cumulatively, 17,09,457 individuals have been infected in the state till now and a total of 22,861 deaths have been logged to date. On the positive side, 16,86, 369 people have successfully recovered from the clutches of the contagion.
While the situation seems to be under control now, the fear of an impending third wave still lingers on. Thereby, it is pertinent for the citizens to ensure COVID-appropriate behaviour and such practices that can mitigate a revived acceleration of cases. Besides, it is equally important for the non-vaccinated citizens to get their jabs, as soon as possible.
