Ahmedabad is set to host the three-month-long Ahmedabad Shopping Festival (ASF), beginning this Saturday, running until the 14th of January, 2025, marking the event’s return after a five-year gap.
Organised by the State Government in partnership with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the fest aims to establish the city as a major shopping and cultural hub, offering a diverse range of activities for both residents and visitors.
Major festival zones and themed experiences across the city
Key areas for the festival include four main shopping districts: Sindhu Bhavan Road, CG Road, Nikol Modern Street, and Kankaria Rambagh Road. In addition, 14 prominent locations like Sabarmati Riverfront, Manek Chowk, Law Garden, Gurjari Bazaar, Science City, Vastrapur, Prahladnagar Road, and several shopping malls will host themed events. To create a festive atmosphere, AMC will illuminate these areas throughout the festival.
The event will feature five distinct themes to enrich the shopping and entertainment experience. Special zones dedicated to food, shopping, art, music, cultural activities, and entertainment will be set up.
An extensive lineup of events, attractions and activities
For ease of transportation, Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Services (AMTS) will operate branded double-decker electric buses on specific routes, providing convenient access to the various shopping districts. Attendees can enjoy an extensive lineup of events, including music festivals, flea markets, stand-up comedy shows, street performances, fashion shows, magic shows, poetry readings, and Gujarati film screenings. The festival also offers sports activities such as boat racing, boxing, marathons, and cycling events.
Additionally, visitors can expect unique attractions like drone shows, fire performances, robot fights, and ‘happy street’ events designed for family engagement. The festival’s logo, website, and promotional teaser were launched on Thursday, generating excitement for the upcoming festivities.
