City Police introduces emergency call boxes to ensure women's safety

To bolster the women safety, Ahmedabad Police has introduced emergency call boxes. More than 80 live feed cameras have been strategically installed across the city, with plans to increase the number to over 3,000.

These video boxes, integrated with AI, are strategically positioned in areas identified as unsafe for women. Upon pressing the red button, the high-resolution night vision cameras activate, establishing a direct link to the police control room. This immediate connection enables those in distress to communicate with the police. In case of imminent danger, the police can respond promptly, ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals involved.

Metro Phase-2 trial runs begins

The Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro Phase-2 project has begun trial runs. The trials are being conducted in phases, covering the stretch between GNLU and Sector-1. This Sunday's trial run extended from GNLU to Gift City.

The entire 28 km project, with 22 stations from Narendra Modi Stadium to Mahatma Mandir and Gift City Link, is undergoing phased trials. Upon completion, approval from the Commissioner Metro Rail Safety is sought, with plans for metro rail services to commence in May-June.

Ahmedabad Vande Bharat trains update

The Western Railway plans to launch its sixth Vande Bharat Express service, connecting Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central. This high-speed express will operate six days a week, excluding Sundays. The updated schedule for Train No 22962 (Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central) and Train No 22961 (Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad) aims to enhance connectivity between the two cities. Notably, this marks the second Vande Bharat Express connecting Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central.

Moreover, the Vande Bharat train from Jamnagar to Ahmedabad will be extended to Okha.

New charging stations to be constructed for Electric Vehicles

In response to the growing trend of electric vehicles, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is set to construct new charging stations at 81 locations across the city on a PPP basis. The Estate Department has issued a tender for this project, intending to establish charging stations at crucial locations, including flyovers, main roads, and municipal offices.

This initiative addresses the current scarcity of EV charging infrastructure in the city.
