Upcoming Night Garden at Sabarmati Riverfront's Flower Park

Adding to the allure of Sabarmati Riverfront, a captivating Night Garden is set to blossom at the Flower Park. This unique garden will feature illuminated structures depicting birds, animals, cartoon characters, trees, and plants, drawing inspiration from the popular glow garden at Kevadia Colony.

Notably, the installations will utilize energy-efficient LED lights, aligning with sustainable practices. The allocated budget for this project is estimated at Rs 3.5 crore.

Gujarat's biggest startup hub to be inaugurated at Knowledge Consortium

In a significant stride towards bolstering Gujarat's startup ecosystem, the state's largest innovation hub, often touted as the country's Silicon Valley, will be inaugurated today by Chief Minister Patel. Constructed at a cost of Rs 98 crore, this hub, situated at Ahmedabad's Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, is a flagship project developed by the Gujarat government's Education Department.

Spread across five floors, including a basement, the hub is designed to accommodate up to 500 startups. It offers comprehensive amenities such as networking facilities, 360-degree mentoring support, intellectual property assistance, funding resources, and more.

Electricity demand solution for the growing suburbs of Ahmedabad

The burgeoning suburban areas of Ahmedabad, notably commercial centers in Bopal, Jhundal, Koteshwar, Shela, Tragad, and Gota, are experiencing a surge in the demand for electricity. The existing transmission infrastructures are proving inadequate to meet this escalating demand, resulting in frequent power outages.

In response to this issue, the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company, both owned by the Gujarat Government, have formulated plans to fortify the transmission infrastructure in these newly developed western municipal wards. As part of this initiative, they have successfully acquired six plots from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

Flight disruptions

The states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are grappling with the impact of Cyclone Michaung, leading to significant disruptions in air connectivity.

On Monday, more than 14 flights departing from Ahmedabad faced delays ranging from 30 minutes to 5 hours. Five flights scheduled for Ahmedabad-Chennai and Ahmedabad-Hyderabad routes had to be canceled due to the adverse weather conditions.

AMC's white-topping initiative faces opposition

In an effort to rejuvenate the city's roads with a durable surface, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) launched the white-topping initiative in August 2022. The civic authorities aim to refurbish 33 km of roads in the western part of the city. As part of this undertaking, Prerna Tirth Road in the Satellite area has undergone excavation, and a new layer has been applied for repairs.

However, this move has met resistance from local traders and residents, who argue that the elevated road may lead to rainwater accumulation, posing a threat of inundation to their shops and houses during the upcoming monsoon season.
