Train operations at Kalupur Station shifted for bullet train project
The Ministry of Railways has announced changes to train operations at Ahmedabad’s Kalupur Railway Station to accommodate infrastructure work for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project.
As per the Railway Board’s notification on November 25, 2024, two trains will now operate from Sabarmati Railway Station. Meanwhile, twelve trains will originate from Maninagar Railway Station, and twenty-five trains will terminate at Vatva Railway Station. Additionally, four trains will now use Asarva Railway Station as their terminal. The changes aim to reduce congestion at Kalupur and ensure smoother construction of the high-speed rail corridor.
GTU makes helmets mandatory for students and staff on two-wheelers
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has issued a directive making it mandatory for all students and staff riding two-wheelers to wear helmets at its affiliated institutions and departments. This decision comes as police across Gujarat have intensified enforcement of helmet regulations.
Following the state government’s recent mandate requiring government employees to wear helmets, GTU has taken similar measures to promote road safety among its academic community.
City records slight dip in minimum temperature
Ahmedabad experienced a slight drop in temperature on Tuesday, with the minimum falling to 15.9°C, below the normal by 0.1°C. The maximum temperature remained stable at 32°C, which is considered normal for this time of year.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a minimum temperature of around 16°C on Wednesday, indicating steady and cool weather conditions for the city.
Western Railway begins installation of ‘Kavach’ safety system between Ahmedabad and Vadodara
Western Railway has started installing the ‘Kavach’ Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system across its network to enhance passenger safety and reduce accidents. Developed by the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), the system aims to prevent collisions by automatically controlling train speed and assisting drivers in adhering to signal protocols.
Following successful trials in September, the system is being deployed along an 84-kilometre stretch between Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The railway authorities aim to implement Kavach across the entire network by 2030.
