At Seva Cafe, you won’t receive bills, prices, or even a menu. Instead, after the meal, an envelope will be handed to you where you can leave a donation of your choice! In a world driven by profit, Seva Cafe stands out as a haven of generosity and community.
Based on the philosophy of ‘Living is Giving’
Seva Cafe, located on CG Road, is unlike a typical cafe. It was founded in 2006 by Manav Sadhna, an NGO created by John Silliphant and Jayesh Patel. This experimental cafe is a movement to spread humanity and create a sense of community.
Here, volunteers and a small, dedicated staff treat you not as customers but as cherished guests. The menu is simple, displayed on a blackboard, and the staff will insist you to indulge.
When your meal concludes, you won’t be handed a bill. Instead, you’ll receive an empty envelope. Here’s the beautiful part: you can choose to donate any amount you wish, or even nothing at all. Why? Because your meal has already been paid for by someone else! Seva Cafe believes that your donation isn’t about covering your meal; it’s about ensuring the next person can enjoy a meal just like you did.
