'Chhappan Dukaan' is where Indoreans go for their daily fill of street food and keeping the popularity of this locale in mind, it's being awarded a 'smart' facelift.

Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL) will redesign this entire area as a 'smart food street' and the venture will be implemented at a cost of ₹4 crores. The plan will be set in action, within 45 days and the completion may stretch till Holi, which is in the first week of March.

The execution will be pushed from the 14th of January and the area around will be transformed into a 'No Vehicle' zone.

The entire area will be developed with LED lightings and designer pavement spaces, all wrapped in greenery! To further promote a no-plastic initiative, there'll be water dispensers near food outlets, to discourage people from carrying or buying plastic water bottles. In addition to all of this, the authorities will also set up an open-air theatre, which would host public gatherings and events.

According to reports by TOI, ISCDL project in-charge Dr. Lodhi stated, “ Entry of vehicles on 56 Dukaan street between MG Road and Chandni Chowk will be restricted from January 14 on a trial basis. A mechanized parking facility with a capacity to accommodate at least 200 two-wheelers and 80 four-wheelers has already been planned in the area, and people visiting the area will have alternative space at Vivekanand School and garden space near Gadi Adda till parking facility is ready."

To add more of cheer to this news, we've also come across reports by TOI, which states that there might be a footbridge coming up near the Dolphin Hospital area. This infrastructure would provide connectivity from RS Bhandari Marg area.

This smart food street tag definitely has added another feather to the city's cap and we can't wait to explore this new concept.
