As a remarkable afforestation initiative, the management authorities at the Shri GS Institute of Technology & Sciences in Indore have launched the first-ever on-campus Miayawaki forest plantation drive in MP.
The drive, spearheaded by the university’s director, has garnered the participation of 1500 individuals who collectively planted 2000 saplings of various species. Over the course of five days, a grand total of 8200 saplings will be planted around the SGSITS Indore campus, symbolizing a significant step towards environmental preservation and campus beautification.
The Miyawaki planting technique, a revolutionary Japanese method, involves planting tree saplings of various species in confined spaces. This innovative approach enables forests to grow at an accelerated rate compared to natural ones.
Through this initiative, the college not only seeks to leverage the benefits of the Miyawaki method but also aims to secure a Guinness World Record for establishing the largest man-made forest within an engineering college campus.
