Although it’s just the first phase of the new year, we’re already tied in monotony and we’ve honestly, been scouting for things to do in the city which would be a much-needed break for us. Of course, Indore has our back on this one and we’re already packing our bags for this awesome getaway!
Approximately 138kms away from Indore, is the tranquil Hanumantiya Tapu, also knows as the Sailani Island and it’s a base for India’s first ‘water tourism’ activities. Hanumantiya Island is also a host to India’s only water carnival, hailed as Jal Mahotsav and its held between January and February annually.
Set amidst a pristine surrounding, heavily wrapped in flora and fauna, here’s why you should be leaving behind your concrete jungle to attend the Jal Mahotsav 2020.

Hanuwantiya is currently hosting the much-loved Jal Mahotsav till the 3rd of February and we’re already planning our weekends accordingly. The Jal Mahotsav is a medley of exciting water activities like paramotoring, hot-air ballooning, parasailing and so on, which also provides for a stellar aerial view. Keep your GoPros handy for this one!
They also have speed boats, cruise boats, banana rides, tug of war, amidst other sports and events, which’ll keep you coming back to the festival, for your fix of adrenaline rush. Your day will be followed by an evening of folk, classical and pop music and dance with a side of delicious grubs, available at the stalls. You can even indulge in retail therapy at the crafts bazaar while at the fest and honestly, this Mahotsav is giving us all the reasons to stay back here, forever. Oh, we wish!
Hanuwantiya also paves way for island camping during this period, which amounts to a leisurely staycation in tents and the stargazing sessions amidst the best of nature here, just makes the night so much better.
