With the addition of Javara Compound, Ushanagar Extension and Race Course road into the list of containment zones on Sunday, Indore now hosts a total of 5 containment zones in the city. Since Diwali, these areas were witnessing a spike in cases and the decision to make them containment zones, was taken with the identification of 21 patients at Javara Compound, 84 in Ushanagar Extension and 27 in Race Course road area, taking the city’s active tally beyond the 4,644 mark. The total aggregate caseload clocks 42,149 cases, in Indore.

Indore has been reporting an average of 557 cases daily since the past seven days, resulting in a state of alarm across the city’s administrative and medical authorities alike. In a bid to control the transmission from newly developing hotspots, the city administration has announced three new containment areas in Indore, given the increased 8.3% of case positivity rate. These high numbers are being pinned to the ‘plateau graph’ of the virus, in the backdrop on increased movement during the Diwali festival.
The recuperation rate in the city stands at an approximate of 87% with a total of 36,745 recoveries, which is much lower than the state’s aggregate which looms at 91.3% So far, the death toll from corona infection has reached 760 in the city.
State officials are anticipating a surged identification of covid cases till the middle of December, and therefore, preventive protocols in the city are being adopted in the city. These include restriction of public movement and isolation of virus hotspots in Indore. All relaxations granted to the city under the purview of the phased unlocking procedures are not valid in these five localities in Indore. On Friday also, the administrative authorities labelled some parts of South Tukoganj and Khatiwala tanks as containment zones.
