In wake of the rise in the coronavirus infection in Indore, the district authorities, on Sunday announced a 5-day urban curfew here. Under the authority of Section 144 of the Cr.PC, the collector has ordained a complete curfew within the municipal limits of Indore district, Mhow cantonment area and Rangwasa, from April 12 to April 16. Reportedly, the 60-hour lockdown has also been extended till April 19 in Indore.
Curfew restrictions-
The district authorities have issued certain guidelines that will bind the 5-day curfew in the Indore district. As per the order, all commercial establishments in the listed areas will remain closed. All government and semi-government offices in the urban limits will also be shut down through the course of the curfew.
The Collector also informed that the curfew restrictive protocol has been imposed to contain the rate of growth and spread of the COVID-19 infection to eventually control the rise in new cases. It will take at least 10-12 days for the hospitalisation demand to set in, he added, keeping the virus incubation period in mind.
The authority also advised citizens to stay indoors and use face masks if they have to go out for emergency work. He emphasized the fact that people need to ensure their safety and well as the safety of others to curb the rising trend of COVID-19.
22 Containment zones in Indore
Meanwhile, Indore logged in as many as 923 cases on Monday, pushing the active load to 7,917, the highest in Madhya Pradesh. The district is undertaking a slew of efforts to build an effective medical infrastructure to deal with the COVID active cases. As per figures, about 80% of the 6,000 hospital beds available here are occupied.
The number of containment zones also increased to 22 here, following the 60-hour lockdown. The Chief Medical Officer also informed that contact tracing will be done in these areas and the designated medical team will take care of the people if required. As per officials, several areas in the city have also been converted into micro containment zones to limit unnecessary movement that can result in erratic virus spread.
