The walled pink city of Jaipur, that has recently been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a city full of ancient charm and wonder. Now, the ever glorious city will house Rajasthan’s first ever weed museum. Hold on to your horses, before you start celebrating, listen us out.
To help the farmers recognise different kinds and varieties of weeds that plague their fields,. The museum will be set up in the Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute (RARI) in Durgapura and would house over a hundred variety of weeds.
The weed museum would have a ton of dried samples of weed on display to help farmers differentiate and recognise various kinds of weeds. These weeds would be put in herbarium boxes along with posters which showcase major rabi, kharif and noxious weeds which are prone to plague places like Dausa, Tonk, Ajmer and Jaipur.

How would it help?
Weeds are an ever-present issue for the farmers in Rajasthan and dealing with weeds without being fully aware is extremely difficult. The posters and the information would not only help farmers recognise weeds but would also provide information on tackling them.
The museum would be an attraction for farmers and agriculture and gardening enthusiasts all over Rajasthan. Though, it is not expected to lure in the tourists who are the main source of income for the state, the museum would benefit the yield and the crop in the state.
With Rajasthan being a dry state, growing and maintaining any kind of crop (except low moisture grains), is a challenge in itself, add to that the weed factor and the task would seem almost impossible. The museum would help farmers recognise the issue , uproot it and provide a rounded solution.
