IIM Indore & MP govt join hands to promote products made by self-help groups run by women

With this new project, Madhya Pradesh is working on its dream to become self-reliant very soon.

Working towards the goal of making women self-reliant, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to initiate a unique scheme to promote the products made by women's self-help Groups, across the state. This step will help in the financial growth of these women. The administration has partnered up with the Indian Institute of Management Indore to provide assistance to the SHG women. Reportedly, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIM Indore on Thursday, for the same.

This initiative is aimed to provide technical and all the other possible help in the production process, design, quality control, branding, marketing and sales of the community-based products. Under the ambit of this initiative, the women from the SHG will also get support in the form of training sessions, seminars and workshops.

To keep the women in the loop with the current technology, proper Information Technology modernisation, and other technology adoption programs will also be imparted in this project. Even though this initiative is backed by the state government, these centres will be managed by experts with full autonomy. Meanwhile, by offering complete support right from the creation of products to its expansion and marketing, this centre will make the community groups undergo a strengthening transition soon.

Notably, earlier this year, the government of Madhya Pradesh had collaborated with National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) to train SHGs in procurement, storage, processing and even marketing of products. With this new project, Madhya Pradesh is working on its dream to become self-reliant very soon.
