In a bid to augment the Lucknow airport connectivity, authorities are planning the electric shuttle bus launch here. Soon, air passengers will be able to travel in electric buses plying between Choudary Charan Singh Airport and various parts of the city.
The move comes after reports of lacking public transportation in the city. The goal is to grant citizens an affordable and convenient mode of travel, especially to the domestic airport. Regarding this, Pallava Bose, MD of City Transport, along with Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob held a review meeting with the Airport Administration.
Electric Buses Take over Lucknow
The buses will mainly cater to citizens, and tourists in Lucknow. Another key potential user could become students of BBD, Ramswaroop and Technical College.
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob has directed officials to begin operation of more buses along the Airport route as well as tourist routes as soon as possible.
The City Transport authorities will mark new bus stops after conducting a survey of 148 bus stops in Lucknow. The survey will help improve the conditions of bus stops and help make them safer. It will also take traffic loads on bus stop roads in account. The goal is to cut down on jams caused by city buses.
Perhaps the motivation behind this move is the multitude of complaints received by the City Transport Department. Citizens have repeatedly raised concerns about buses not stopping at designated bus stands. Upon completion of the aforementioned survey, city buses will stop at the new bus stands. Incidentally, bus drivers will also be trained for the same.
On a related note, authorities have been asked to increase the time limit for the disposal of complaints coming to the toll free helpline number from bus passengers.
