The General Election dates have been announced and voting in U.P will take place in 7 phases. As the mercury rises in UP and elsewhere, the political temperatures will rise too. Party Manifestos will be out shortly and in Lucknow, the polling will take place on 06 May, 2019.

This year, 541 Lok Sabha seats are going to be up for grabs. It’s going to be the biggest, the super-mega event in the largest democracy of the world. A large number of young voters who have turned 18 after the last elections are going to join the electoral fray. As per reports, there are a total of 900 million voters this time as opposed to the 800 million in 2014.
This will be perhaps one of the most technologically advanced election because the election commision will make use of 17.4 lakh VVPATs and EVMs. To spread awareness about these technologies and make people understand the procedure, ERO 175 in Lucknow is helping the cause. Additionally, the EC has also launched an app called cVigil which helps the average citizen take a greater part in the voting process.

Apart from this, the Model of Conduct has also been implemented and cVigil helps citizens keep a watchful eye out for any malpractices during the election process. The election will be nothing short of a major feat as there is a substantial increase in voters and voting methods. Add to that the fact that India is the biggest democracy in the world, and you’ve got a voting process of the largest scale.
Polling will take place in Lucknow across 393 polling centres and 1,826 polling booths. The polling process will take place on May 06, which is phase 5 of the election. Elections in Lucknow are a much awaited happening and we’re eagerly waiting for it to start.
