Lucknow is a city that is on the verge of a very significant change. The second most happy city in the country is evolving, it is changing so fast that sometimes it gets difficult to keep a track on all that it is going through. Restaurants and food chains are mushrooming in every lane and street of Lucknow, malls and brands are steadily making their way into our lives. Though the love of Tunday ke kebab and Prakash ki kulfi will never leave our hearts, we are hoping to see some big names come to the city of nawabs.
Lucknow’s love affair with food is not unheard of, people here go gaga over delicacies and no matter how many options you serve us, food will never be enough! Living the spirit of the city to the fullest, here’s a list of all the food stops and restaurant chains we cannot wait to have in the city.
Taco Bell

Taco Bell is probably one of the greatest fast food places of all time. The Mexican food in Lucknow is anyway slim pickins, at least with the Taco Bell we would be able have some good Mexican. Obviously people know it is toned down Americanised Mexican food, but it is sooooo good. The burritos, soft tacos, nachos, quesadillas, rice bowls, chalupas and Mexican fries have made a home into our hearts . Anyone who’s had a Taco Bell chalupa knows that there’s nothing better than biting into the crispy and chewy outer shell, which then lead to a cheesy chicken (or veggie) filling which is encased in cheese, sour cream and fresh salsa.
Burger King

If you are a fan of burgers you’ve surely tried the Burger King burgers and compared them with the burgers we get at McDonalds. There is no doubt in the fact that the king of burgers, Burger King, actually has a more versatile burger menu. The burgers are better, bun softer, sauces tastier and we are not just talking whopper here, we are also talking chicken fries, sandwiches, cheesy fries, nuggets and the ultimate onion rings and thick shakes. We are simplu over the whole McDonald’s magic and are waiting with bated breath for the king to come and rescue us from this burger hell.
Dunkin Donuts, MoD, Krispy Kreme

Who doesn’t love a good doughnut? A fluffy chewy disc of pure bliss that comes in variety of flavours. From Red Velvet and Original Glazed at Krispy Kreme, Boston Cream and Cookie Cartwheel at Dunkin Donuts to Midnight Beauty and Cinnaster at Mad over Donuts, we just cannot seem to have our fill of the sweet dough balls. Add some nicely made coffee to the mix and you win yourself a delightful meal that cannot be replaced. So it is suffice to say that we’re tired of getting doughnuts only when we or our friends go to Delhi.
IHOP- International House of Pancakes

To say that pancakes are the kings of breakfast would be stating plain facts twice over. A stack of pancakes drenched in syrup, covered in chocolate sauce with a knob of butter on top, is our American breakfast fantasy come true. Not that we don’t have nice places that serve tasty pancakes in the city, but imagine an entire restaurant chain dedicated to just pancakes and imagine the plethora of options you’d get. And not just pancakes, but crepes, all sorts of omelettes, waffles, pancake sliders, sausages, hash brown and much much more. In short- a mouthgasm on a platter!
Starbucks

Starbucks is the queen of coffee. No matter who you are, a college kid looking to post something cool on your Instagram or a working professional looking for a Venti sized iced espresso to calm yourself down, we all know and love Starbucks. Let’s be honest, the love for their coffees, croissant, layered cakes, cookies, sandwiches and what not is still less than our love of being able to say: “Get me an Mocha frappuccino, grande, milk non fat, hold the whipped cream, add in a pump of caramel and please spell my name right.”
Nando’s

Nando’s is the holy grail for any non-veg lover. Not that your vegetarian friend won’t enjoy themselves here, but let’s be honest we know we come here for the Portuguese Chicken. It is the go-to restaurant when someone craves a beautifully prepared chunk of meat. Their Espetada, Peri Peri Chicken, Chicken Skewers with Pita & salsa make for some of the most loved meals. Not just that, the portions here are more than good for what you need. The coleslaw and peri-peri wedges complete the meal like nothing else.
Theobroma

Think layered cake that is so delectably sinful it makes you want to eat your fingers away. Brownies so fudgy you feel like biting into a cloud of bliss and cupcakes so cute and delicate you want to cuddle them. Theobroma has created a niche when it comes to desserts. The bakery chain is among the top in the country and we just can’t handle having one more mediocre tiramisu or a hard AF muffin. Theobroma is the answer to all of our dessert woes.
Haldiram’s

Now we know we’ve had enough of videsi food chains but to add a flair of desi to our little list is Haldiram’s. We all know and love the packaged sweets they serve, the namkeens and all of the snacks. BUt what Lucknow is missing out on, is an accoutrement of freshly prepared chat, sweets, snacks and dishes that no-one can do justice to. If at 9’o clock at night you crave jalebis, you go to Haldiram’s, if you start missing the desi chaat but don’t want to stand at a roadside on a hot summer’s day, you go to Haldiram’s. Haldiram’s ke chhole bhature aur raj-kachori are so good, we can already imagine having the lot!
