In order to facilitate an easier commute for pedestrians, foot-over bridges shall be constructed at 12 locations in Lucknow. As per the available information, these bridges shall be established at road intersections in Kamta, Lohiya Park Chauraha, VIP road, Burlington Chauraha, Thakurganj, Daliganj, Aliganj, Kapoorthala Road, Sitapur Road amongst other regions. Besides benefiting on-foot commuters, these connecting structures will also help in better management of traffic.
New foot-over bridges to be equipped with elevators
Starting the execution of its plans, the Public Works Department has completed the survey of all these areas. Now, the authorities are preparing a draft proposal for getting permission from the city administration. After the plans are approved, the construction work is expected to commence soon. Informing about this project, executive engineer Rajeev Kumar Rai furnished details about the implementation of this project.
According to an official at the PWD, the foot-over bridges at Polytechnic, Engineering College and four other crossings have failed to reap significant advantages for the pedestrians. Due to the long stretch of the ramp and its multiple turns, daily commuters do not use them and resort to using the roads. Keeping this in view, the new bridges will also be equipped with lifts so that maximum advantages are assured for the city dwellers.
Lucknow gets its first four-lane flyover at Tedhipulia
Lucknow latest flyover was made operational for the public in the early days of April with an objective to dissolve major traffic jams on one of the city’s most frequently used routes. As per records, this facility was launched to provide ease of travel and commute to nearly 1 lakh people, advantaging the residents of Aliganj, Khurram Nagar, Jankipuram and other areas in Lucknow.
