The city witnessed a historic moment when Lucknow metro rolled out graciously on the tracks. With an agenda to glorify the ‘heritage city’ turned ‘the city that boasts a metro’, Lucknow metro is here to revolutionize the way Lucknowites used to commute.
The city’s timeline has seen various transport system, from ’Tangas’ to autos, city buses, e-rickshaws, cab services and now to the metro. With a mission to make the route a 23 km channel for metro till 2019, the authorities are all set to further boost the construction.

The whole credit cannot be given to LMRC as the disrupted traffic routes that clogged the cities major intersections turned to be havoc for the common masses while the construction was on full stretch. People changed their roots, adjusted themselves just to get the metro in their city.
Many people gave away a part of their homes and some of them had to even leave their homes for a while so that the authorities can go on with the construction work. Metro employees 35 people per km length of a corridor, therefore, it can offer numerous jobs when further construction completes.
However, there are also certain people who fail to do so.
While technical glitches and pan stains, became the major headlines, another finding from the first two days of Lucknow metro has come as a shock to both, the environment department and LMRC.

An immediate need to sensitize people was felt, when a total of 20 kg tobacco was seized from the public, right at the gates. Since then, passengers are constantly being made aware of not using or bringing paan, cigarettes, tobacco sachets, etc on the stations.
The standees will be used to promote the Swachh Bharat campaign with a new slogan- metro humara, safai ka farz bhi humara!
With a speed of 50-100 Mbps, Lucknow metro’s free wifi service gets a thumbs up from the commuters!
Metro commuters are readily utilizing the free wifi made available by the LMRC. With 2000 new users joining each day, the wifi service has become a great hit amongst the commuters.
Initially, wifi was available for all the passengers, but now only Go Smart card holders can have access to it. The good 50-100mbps speed internet, by broadband Sikka, can be availed by registering your smart cards at, www.lmrcl.com. Basic information like name, contact details, e-mail, etc, will be taken while registering and will be confirmed after filling in the correct OTP, sent on your mobile phones.

LMRC officials encourage the people to make wise use of this wonderful service whereas the staff can be contacted for any problems in registering for the free wifi, which is available for a time limit if 30 minutes.
