In a bid to relax the swelling burden of COVID patients dependent on Lucknow’s healthcare infrastructure, the new isolation centre developed at Topkhana, in the city’s cantonment area, has started admitting patients since Wednesday. Equipped with facilities for oxygen supplies, this COVID medical centre will have a team of doctors and paramedical staff working round the clock, to sufficient care and treatment for the individuals infected by the deadly virus.
Patients with diabetes & hypertension to also be treated at the centre
As per the management, the cost of treatment at this Level-1 hospital will be 80% less as compared to the fees being charged by the private entities. All such individuals who have symptoms related to the COVID infection, including high fever and other problems can contact the isolation unit for seeking admission. If the oxygen level falls in the range of 90-94, one can contact the staff at the hospital immediately. According to authorities, the centre would also cater to patients suffering from co-morbidities like hypertension and diabetes.
While RT-PCR tests shall be conducted at the centre, the facility of home collection of samples will also be provided. Aiming to create awareness about this new site, the cantonment administration is involved in the process of distributing pamphlets and other such activities.
40 L-1 category beds at the centre; 22 beds equipped with oxygen
According to sources, the centre established on the public-private partnership model, has 40 beds in the L-1 category. In addition to this, 22 beds here are equipped with oxygen supply for moderately ill patients. Given the inflating needs of the residents in the city, this centre would assuredly bring umpteen benefits for them.
