With the introduction of Metro in Lucknow, public transportation has undoubtedly become more convenient. However, a metro cannot take you to the nooks and corners of the city and when it comes to that, we do feel the need of better means of transportation. Also, the metro is yet to expand to more parts of the city, which is why one cannot totally depend on it.
When we talk about the buses in the city, they are mostly in dilapidated conditions and it’s not something people wish to travel in. However, that is about to change with the introduction of 100 new electric buses.
It seems that the authorities have finally taken note of the public transport situation in Lucknow and we will finally have something that’s worth our money. Not only will the buses be beneficial for the environment but Lucknowites can also use them to easily and economically get across the city.

Often, when travelling in a generic bus in Lucknow, you don’t really feel safe- the bus is rickety, old and could conk off at any moment. Additionally, most of the buses do not even have many of the state of the art facilities that are seen on newer buses.
In that light, the authorities have opted for 100 new electric buses for Lucknow city. Earlier this year, Lucknow public transport authorities inducted 40 similar electric buses to the entire fleet. The new buses and are completely state of the art and offer comfort that Lucknowites aren’t used to. As of now, the letter of approval has been sent out for the 100 buses.
What hurdles must be faced?

When it comes to making a viable electric bus network within a city like Lucknow, there are a lot of factors that have to be taken in. For one, you have to set up the entire charging and standby stations. Though the Kaiserbagh bus adda has ample space, it does not have the infrastructure to sustain an electric bus.
In order to make sure that the buses run smoothly, there will be a hub at Dubagga by January. This hub will have all the required charging stations and maintenance facilities to ensure that the electric buses run for as long as possible.
