The final process of starting operations of the sixth line between Khar and Goregaon is underway. As the work nears completion, Western Railway train services are expected to be severely affected between October 25 and November 4.
It is noteworthy that after the final phase of work began on October 7, Western Railway has already cancelled two trains and delayed 10 others. In the said 10-day period, hundreds of trains are expected to be cancelled, partially cancelled, or delayed.
However, the new 12-kilometer Khar-Goregaon line will greatly enhance the carrying capacity of Mumbai’s suburban train network. Hence, these few days of service hiccups will eventually turn into smoother commutes on the aforementioned route.
