Given that Navratri is just around the corner, preparations are in full swing in Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra. Apart from the fasting and feasting, the nine-night festival devoted to Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, introduces a whole new level of celebration.
Following this, the government of Maharashtra has ordered that providing basic emergency healthcare facilities, along with an ambulance will be mandatory at all major public event venues, starting from October 14.
The dandiya/garba nights are truly euphoric and heart-stealing with huge dancing grounds, a good deal of food stalls and scores of people making way to meet film or TV stars. However, as per officials, it has been pointed out that there have been instances where people have collapsed due to stress, heart attacks and overcrowding at venues, calling for immediate medial attention.
Taking cognisance of the repeated pleas by the public, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister made it mandatory for all public Navratri organisers to deploy medicos, primary healthcare facilities and a fully equipped ambulance at each venue.
