After tomatoes it’s now onion prices in UP that have doubled amid the festive season. It is noteworthy that onion in the retail market is now being sold between ₹60-80 per kg, which was available at just ₹30-35 per kg till now.
It is noteworthy that this is the second time the price of onion has increased in the last four months after it crossed the ₹100 mark in August 2023. Irregular rainfall and other adverse weather conditions have been identified as the primary reasons behind the onion crop being affected, resulting in the price hike.
