Summer flight schedule: Airport gears up for increased passenger traffic
Following the conclusion of the winter schedule on March 28, the summer schedule will start, expecting a doubling of passenger traffic during the summer vacation. For the convenience of tourists, Ahmedabad Airport plans to launch a total of 13 flights before the summer schedule, including 5 direct and 8 one-stop connecting domestic sector flights.
Destinations encompass Port Blair, Leh, Srinagar, Dharamshala, Guwahati, and Gwalior. Starting this February, Akasha Airlines will commence flights from Ahmedabad to Gwalior, operating twice a week. Spice Jet has also introduced a new schedule featuring two flights to Jaipur and one to Pune.
A’bad-Delhi Ashram Express will now operate from Sabarmati Station
Starting February 1st, the Ahmedabad-Delhi-Ahmedabad Ashram Express will depart from and return to Sabarmati Railway Station instead of Kalupur, as announced by the Railway administration.
The train will depart from Sabarmati station at 7:40 pm and return from Delhi at 5:55 am. Notably, the train will conclude its journey at the Sabarmati Station. This change aims to streamline operations and reduce congestion at Kalupur Railway Station.
Concerns rise as construction waste pollutes City lakes
The ecological well-being of Gota, Chandkheda, Dev City, and Memnagar lakes is under threat as construction companies persistently dump waste into these water bodies. Despite the designation of 25 plots as dumping sites, companies and contractors illegally dump debris into the lakes.
The issue is attributed to a shortage of designated sites and a lack of responsibility in the industries. The AMC is working to increase the number of allocated dumping sites to address this environmental concern.
Earthquake detectors to safeguard Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor
The NHSRCL is set to install 28 earthquake detectors along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train corridor. Utilizing the ‘Early Earthquake Detection System’ based on Japanese Shinkansen technology, these detectors aim to ensure the safety of passengers and critical infrastructure.
Seismometers will automatically trigger a power shutdown upon detecting earthquake tremors, activating emergency brakes in the affected area to halt trains and prevent potential hazards.
