In a bid to promote eco-tourism in Goa, the administration will set its focus on developing forest areas and parks across the Coastal State. State Minister Vishwajit Rane revealed the government’s plan to improve the existing infrastructure and establish new tourism spots, in a tweet.
Moving ahead with the sanctuary-based tourism model, the authorities are also mulling over upgrading Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary at Chorao.
Good news for wildlife enthusiasts!
Known for its party life, Goa also has a rich flora and fauna to its account. With six wildlife sanctuaries and a park, Goa attracts animal lovers and wildlife enthusiasts from all across the world to the state.
“Following discussions with forest dept officers, we have decided to give thrust to development of forest eco-tourism within forest areas and forest parks. We will improve infrastructure of Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, build camping areas, jungle trails etc,” the state forest minister tweeted.
Dedicated forest management plan coming up!
As per reports, the authorities are planning on establishing jungle lodges in Goa along the lines of Karnataka’s forests and Madhya Pradesh’s wildlife parks. Additionally, the state will also get a separate forest management plan soon.
“We will carry out these activities with guidance from experts in order to ensure that people are more interested in and visit forest parks. Camping areas and jungle trails will be prioritised. We will create an entirely new ecosystem so that we can see the animals within the park,” added the Minister.
