Apart from the forts, palaces and other exquisite architectural gems, Jaipur is blessed with an abundance of equally beautiful natural surroundings as well. The popularity of this city is not confined to its historical significance. The palatial gardens and courtyards add to the regal atmosphere of the capital city by adding a calming vibe. And, here is a list of 7 famous gardens in Jaipur that add to the old-world charm of this pink-hued city, which you’d surely wanna visit.

Kanak Vrindavan Garden

Placed in the footsteps of Nahargarh hills near Amber Fort, Kanak Vrindavan Garden is a 280-year-old royal garden. Showcasing the perfect amalgamation of Mughal and Rajput architecture, this garden was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh.

The premise, divided into eight sections highlights the sprawling garden, which boasts of the intricate marble fountain, the Parikrama and the magnificent mirror work on the walls of the temple built on the premises. The gardens here are often compared with those in Vrindavan, the place where the Hindu deity Lord Krishna is said to have lived.

Sisodia Rani Garden

The Sisodia Rani Garden, famously known as Sisodia Rani ka Bagh was built by Maharaja of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh for his second wife, the Princess of Udaipur. Located 10 kilometres away from the centre of the city, this garden is named after her as she belonged to the Sisodia Rajput clan.

This heritage garden is said to be the largest and the most impressive of all the gardens in the Pink City. Fun fact, this garden can be spotted in Anil Kapoor and Sridevi’s famous movie ‘Lamhe’.

Shivaji Garden

Get ready to be bowled out by the natural charm of the expanse as you enter the Shivaji Garden. Located at a distance of 70 kilometres from Jaipur, this garden is hidden amidst a residential neighbourhood in Tonk.

This park shares a striking resemblance with the famous Mysore Garden and Hiran Magri Park. Due to its geographical positioning, this locale makes for a great choice for family outings as it is not situated in the busy parts of the town.

Jai Niwas Garden

Located at the Rajamal ka Talab Road, Jai Niwas Garden has a distinct appeal with its own unique charm. Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, this garden has a touch of the typical Mughal Charbagh pattern. This regal garden boasts an exceptionally beautiful look of blooming plants and other eye-catching structures. Apart from the picturesque view, this city park cum garden also has a number of other attractions as well. The miniature temple of Lord Krishna on the premise attracts tourists and local residents alike.

Nehru Garden

Nehru Garden, also known as Nehru Bay Udyan is a must-visit place for kids in Jaipur. Situated on the Tonk Road, opposite Nehru Palace, this is not just a regular garden but an adventure land for kids and adults alike.

Apart from the extraordinary greenery, there is a boating area and did we mention that ducks can also be spotted in the pond here? How cool is that now! That is not all, there is also a special toy train, that the kids can hop on to enjoy their journey through this garden.

Vidyadhar Garden

Located at Ghat ki Guni, Vidyadhar Garden was built in the year 1988, as a tribute to Jaipur’s chief architect, Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. Designed with the principles of the science of Indian architecture- ‘Shilpa Shastra’, Vidyadhar garden’s layout and architecture are a blend of Mughal, Rajasthani and classical Indian architecture.

One can notice the influence of Hindu mythology from the exquisite design and patterns on the pavilion walls. Moreover, the influence of Mughals can be noticed from the fountains, flower beds and well-maintained gardens.

Apart from the Alstonia trees that are predominant in this garden, peacocks and monkeys can also be easily spotted at this locale. Additionally, this is garden is also a good choice for bird watchers as a plethora of immigrant birds flock here during winters.

The fountains present in the premise accompany the impressively manicured garden beautifully.

History buffs, architecture lovers and nature enthusiasts all flock to this regal garden to explore the Albert Hall Museum, the Jaipur Zoo, and all other attractions within the garden area. Additionally, to cater to visitors’ hunger pangs, this picture-perfect garden also has little corners with cafes that specialise in authentic Rajasthani local delicacies.
